Cree Poem

Runs With The Rabbit

He stepped onto the track,
His spikes tied tight
The people around him cheered,
As he stepped onto the line
The gun went off

Since he was thirteen,
He ran for his life
Training to become the best,
Better than all the rest
The first lap finished

He began to run outside of school,
Staying in shape was the thing to do
He trained and trained
Everyone saw a runner being born
The second lap flew by

His second year of running
The coach knew what he saw,
What he saw was a runner
A runner who had a goal
The third lap was done

The summer came once again
It was his time race against people who were not his friends
The race was coming to close,
As the last lap was a sprint for the win,
But in the end, he had won

The rabbit raced him
The rabbit paced him
But to him
The rabbit had helped him
He had ran with the rabbit
